Belle Isle Public Art Exhibit: 6.18.11 – 6.24.11
OPENING RECEPTION: June 18, 2pm-7pm
LOCATION: Belle Isle Park across from the Conservatory
On June 18, with the support of Detroit’s Recreation Department, Access Arts opens its 5th exhibition at Belle Isle Park. It is an honor to continue showcasing the work of local artists at one of Detroit’s most amazing places. The purpose of a public art exhibition at Belle Isle is to add even more vibrancy to the park via the creative spirit.
Our upcoming exhibit brings together a range of disciplines, artists and educators. Together, their work will weave layers of creativity into the various niches of Belle Isle’s landscape with interactive, experiential and contextual applications. Join us during the opening and during the week as we create unique shared experiences throughout the park.
In case you’re unfamiliar, public art covers a wide range of creative expression. It’s like a mashup of traditional and non-traditional arts practices coming together in places you might not expect it. In this exhibit, you’ll find fibers based work interacting with natural materials and man-made structures while live performances of music and dance happen nearby. The show is going to be amazing, and we look forward to seeing you there. Checkout the event details on the right. Send comments, questions or press inquires to info@accessartsdetroit.org.
